2016-2017 Budget Documents
The budget reflects the allocation of revenues and expenditures to support the educational programs and services. Each school district in Texas is required by law to prepare annually a budget for the General Fund, the Debt Service Fund, and the Food Service Program. The following budget documents are the original budgets adopted by the Board of Trustees.
As required by the legislature, the district must post the following statement:
Southside ISD adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for Maintenance and Operations than last year’s tax rate.
What the legislature has failed to inform the public is that as your local tax collections increase, the state reduces the amount of funds sent to the district – shifting the responsibility of funding education from the state to the local taxpayers. Southside ISD does not benefit from increased local tax collections.
