February is “Love the Bus” Month, a special time set aside to recognize and celebrate the incredible dedication of our bus drivers and bus monitors.

Bus Drivers are often the first smile our students see in the morning and the last one they see in the afternoon. They help set the tone for their day before they ever step into a classroom. Their patience, consistency, and genuine care do not go unnoticed. Whether ensuring safety, offering a word of encouragement, or navigating challenges with calm professionalism, they play an essential role in our school community.

On Friday, February 13th, we had the pleasure of celebrating our team with a wonderful potluck luncheon. One of our vendors generously treated the staff to delicious barbecue chicken from Everybody Loves Raymond. Freedom Elementary also sweetened the celebration by providing a delicious cake for dessert. It was a small token of gratitude for the tremendous difference our transportation team makes every single day.

Serving as a bus driver or monitor is far more than a job; it is a tremendous responsibility that requires dedication, attentiveness, and heart. You transport our most precious cargo, and you do so with pride, professionalism, and care.

In addition to celebrating Love the Bus Month, our Transportation Department recently participated in an outstanding staff development day. They were honored to have training led by David Uecker, former Director of Transportation for Hutto ISD. Mr. Uecker brings extensive experience in leading school transportation departments, with expertise in driver training, student management, and operational safety procedures.

During the session, he reviewed critical topics including student safety, effectively handling various situations involving students and parents, and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism at all times. It was a highly productive and engaging training, and our team walked away with valuable tools and strategies that will continue to strengthen and enhance our department.

To our Transportation Department: thank you for your unwavering commitment, teamwork, and the compassion you show our students each day. We are truly grateful for all that you do.
