(San Antonio, TX) – The Southside community gathered on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. for an evening of fun and support of Southside ISD. Hosted by the Southside ISD Education Foundation, the annual Bingo for Bags event once again was a major success.
The fourth ever, Bingo for Bags is a two-hour, open-to-the-public fundraiser where families and community members come together to play bingo for the chance to win designer handbags. Prizes included popular brands such as Coach and Kate Spade, with a Louis Vuitton bag awarded as the raffle grand prize.
More than 200 people attended the January 29 event, making it one of the Foundation’s largest gatherings to date. The strong turnout highlighted the continued commitment of the Southside community to support local students and educators. Thanks to generous participation, sponsorships, and door sales, the event raised more than $10,000.
All proceeds from Bingo for Bags directly benefit Southside ISD through student scholarships, educational programs, and teacher grants. Last year, the Southside ISD Education Foundation awarded more than $60,000 to support students and staff across the district. This year, the goal is to exceed $70,000 is fundraising to increase support at SISD.
A special thank you to the SISD Board of Trustees, the Superintendent, and the small but mighty Southside ISD Education Foundation Board of Directors. Both boards generously volunteer countless hours in service to our students and district, and their dedication and leadership are deeply appreciated.
The Foundation also extends sincere gratitude to all volunteers, SISD staff, sponsors, and attendees who helped make this event possible. Community support plays a vital role in the Foundation’s mission, and events like Bingo for Bags would not be successful without the commitment of those who give their time and talents.
