Southside High School’s Emarald Aguirre Qualifies for State as Cardinal Cross Country Competes at Regionals

On Monday, October 21st, the Southside Cardinal Cross Country Team competed at the Regional Meet in Corpus Christi, showcasing incredible effort and determination from start to finish.

Leading the way, Emarald Aguirre finished an impressive 13th out of 188 runners, earning her spot at the State Championship in Round Rock. She will compete on Friday, October 31st, at 9:30 a.m. Her teammates and coaches are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and wish her the best of luck in her final race of the 2025 season.

Our Varsity Girls Team also had a strong showing, placing 14th overall out of 24 teams—a remarkable improvement from last year’s 18th-place finish.

Running in the tough mid-morning heat, Kalub Flores represented Southside with heart and determination, finishing 150th out of 189 runners.

We are proud of all our athletes for their hard work, perseverance, and the outstanding way they represented Southside ISD this season.
