Heritage Elementary is proud to partner with Brighter Bites, a nonprofit dedicated to delivering fresh fruits and vegetables straight into families’ hands. Joined by the team at Brighter Bites, Southside ISD staff created over 100 bags for registered families, teachers, and staff.
This program not only provides healthy food, but also helps students build lifelong habits. Through their teachers, students will learn about nutrition and be exposed to new foods. “We want to encourage trying new food items that they might not have seen before,” said Jocelyn Macias, a Brighter Bites representative.
On distribution days, produce bags are packed and lined up ready to be sent home with your child, making it easy and convenient for families to receive fresh fruits and vegetables.
