More than 15 families joined Menchaca’s From Tears to Cheers: One Month Down family event! Held on September 12th at 9:00 a.m., we created a space for families to come together and celebrate their child’s first month of school.
The event created a welcoming space where families could reflect on the journey so far, share stories, and celebrate the many small victories that come with starting a new school year. Whether their child ran into class with excitement or faced the first day with nervous tears, parents and guardians bonded over their shared experiences.
“I cried more than my son did,” one mom shared with a laugh, reminiscing about her first day of school drop-off experience.
Families also enjoyed decorating a special wooden craft that their child can carry with them as a reminder of their parents’ love and support throughout the year.
In addition to the celebration, families received helpful district updates, including an introduction to our new community engagement website, where parents can access valuable resources and stay connected. We also encouraged involvement through opportunities such as joining the District Parent Committee, a great way for families to have a voice and make an impact.
