Southside ISD is proud to announce that Board Member Mary Belle Unger-Robles has successfully completed the Leadership TASB (LTASB) program, earning the designation of Master Trustee. She was recognized at a graduation ceremony on June 20, 2025, during the TASB Summer Leadership Institute in Fort Worth.
LTASB is the Texas Association of School Boards’ premier leadership training program for experienced school board members. Since its founding in 1990, more than 1,000 trustees have completed the year-long program focused on governance, leadership, and advocacy for Texas’ 5.5 million public school students.
The Class of 2025 began in September 2024 with a kickoff session in San Antonio, visiting Fort Sam Houston ISD and Randolph Field ISD. The group also traveled to El Paso in November, visiting San Elizario ISD and El Paso ISD. In February, they attended the Leadership TASB Connect & Ignite Conference in Austin, including a visit to the Texas Capitol and Hutto ISD. In April, the group visited Bryan ISD and College Station ISD. In total, the cohort traveled more than 2,300 miles and visited districts serving over 120,000 students.
Each year, trustees are selected for LTASB based on their leadership in their local school districts and communities.
Southside ISD is proud to have four current board members who have earned the Master Trustee designation:
-
Lisa L. Salazar – Class of 2008
-
Brenda Olivarez – Class of 2023
-
Katie Farias – Class of 2024
-

Southside ISD is proud of all seven of its board members for their continued commitment to leadership and lifelong learning. We thank them for their dedicated service to our students, families, and community.
