Southside ISD is proud to recognize the incredible achievements of our Matthey Middle School BBQ teams. The students were honored at the Southside ISD Board Meeting on Wednesday, June 25th, for their outstanding performance at the Scheels National BBQ Competition held in Kansas City, Missouri.
On Friday, June 6th, the teams competed nationally and earned top awards, including 1st Place in the National Chili Competition and 2nd Place in the Ribeye Competition.
Matthey Middle School Principal Miguel Martell said, “I’m thrilled to share the incredible accomplishments of our middle school BBQ teams. Our students represented our district with outstanding skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Their results speak volumes about their dedication and talent.”

Principal Martell also shared that these results reflect months of hard work and practice by the students, as well as support from staff and families.
