(San Antonio,TX)- Congratulations to Priscilla Ortegon from Gallardo Elementary for winning the prestigious Southside ISD District Teacher of the Year. Out of all of our campuses, Ortegon was selected by a committee representing the district. Human Resources Executive Director Marybel Flores, who helps to coordinate this committee and the contests, says, “Ortegon’s outstanding work and results stood out as the best of the best for our selection committee. Her personality, drive, vision, and passion for helping our students and Southside ISD were above and beyond.” As the 2025 District Teacher of the Year, she goes on to represent the district in the Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching contest. This competition is considered one of the most respected in the education field. The Gallardo Elementary teacher said she was truly surprised and shared the win with staff and students, “I am in shock. Thank you to all the staff and the students. I feel like it’s a team effort. A lot of help and support! I am just so honored.”
As the SISD winner, Mrs. Ortegon will receive several gifts, including a $3,000 cash prize. Congratulations, Mrs. Ortegon.
