Under the guidance of Mr. Gilbert Rodriguez, Social Studies Department Chair, National Honor Society (NHS) students at Southside High School planned and executed a special gift-giving event for our LID students in Mr. Hernandez and Mrs. Horner’s classrooms.

This thoughtful occasion saw the NHS students not only donating gifts but also taking the time to engage with their LID peers, fostering an atmosphere of kindness, inclusion, and Southside community spirit. The event was a beautiful example of our students coming together to make a meaningful impact on their fellow classmates. Their generosity and willingness to connect with others were truly inspiring.

Southside High School was fortunate to have several distinguished guests in attendance, including Board of Trustee member Mary Silva, Superintendent Rolando Ramirez, High School Principal Gregory Mihleder, and Academic Dean Michelle Borland, along with central office staff and directors. The presence of these leaders underscored the significance of this event and the support our school community shares in fostering an environment of care and compassion.

A special thanks goes to the NHS students whose contributions and interactions made this event a success. Their dedication to service and their genuine efforts in bringing joy to our LID students are commendable.
