Congratulations to the Matthey 7th and 8th grade football teams on an outstanding season! These athletes have earned the title of Zone Champions for the first time in six years!
The 7th grade team displayed incredible grit and skill throughout the season, including a thrilling comeback victory over the Somerset Bulldogs. Their solid defense also shut down the Floresville Tigers, demonstrating their strength on both sides of the ball. Meanwhile, the 8th grade team faced an early challenge but showed true resilience, bouncing back with a pivotal win over Dwight Middle School that propelled them to finish strong.
Both teams exhibited exceptional teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the season, proving that hard work and dedication paid off. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the character they’ve shown.
A huge thank you also goes out to the dedicated coaching staff—Coach Corona, Coach Del Valle, Coach Guzman, Coach Mayberry, Coach Rizo, and Coach Sendejo—whose leadership and commitment helped guide our athletes to success. You have all represented Matthey with pride!
