The Child Nutrition Department at Southside ISD is dedicated to preparing healthy and delicious meals for students, and they recently identified some areas for improvement. Thanks to secured funding, they’ve launched a series of exciting upgrades throughout the district. This initiative kicked off with new kitchen supplies, an additional serving line, and vibrant artwork outside Southside High School. Now, all four elementary schools have been transformed with fresh paint and creative designs, leaving the students excited about the enhancements. “The students couldn’t believe how beautiful everything looked,” said Janie Ramirez, Director of Child Nutrition. “That’s why we did it—it’s all for them!” The next project will focus on installing new tables at the middle schools later this year.
