(San Antonio,TX) – Several weeks ago, the Losoya Middle School Band nominated Mrs. Kendra Blackmon, their principal, for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Distinguished Administrator Award. This award recognizes administrators who advocate for and support the fine arts.
According to the band’s directors, Mrs. Blackmon has always been a huge proponent of the arts. She makes it a point to attend and help out at all of our concerts and always gives us compliments about how much she enjoys our music and how impressed she is with the students. Mrs. Blackmon understands that one of the big reasons students come to school is for their fine arts class and how important the Fine Arts are to a well-rounded education. She does whatever she can to support the band program, and we want to recognize her outstanding effort.
Solomon Ruppa, Losoya’s assistant band director, says, “I was extremely happy to receive the news that my wonderful principal, Ms. Blackmon, had been selected to receive this award. It is extremely well deserved, and I’m glad she is being recognized for the hard work and support she gives to the band and our fine arts team.”
Congratulations, Mrs. Blackmon, for winning the 2024 TMEA Distinguished Administrator Award!
