The search is over for the kid artist whose design will land on UTSA football’s season tickets this year. A Southside Independent School District first grader is taking home the honor.
Pearce Elementary student Aubrey Rubio’s winning drawing for the “Hometown Heroes” theme features a teacher decked out in a blue and orange dress. On the whiteboard of Rubio’s imaginary classroom is the Roadrunner logo and a play diagram accompanied by the phrase “Birds Up.”
UTSA doesn’t plan on officially announcing the winner until June 1, but Southside ISD couldn’t wait to congratulate its budding artist in a social media post.
“I knew you could do it,” wrote Southside ISD Library Facilitator Christine Derabertis Lopez under the post.
Besides seeing her art spread far and wide, Rubio will receive tickets for the 2024-25 season opener and a VIP experience at a home game. Season tickets start at $90 and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.
