(San Antonio, TX) – Dr. Subhashini Valavalkar, president of the Texas Indo-American Physicians Society South West Chapter(TIPS-SW) and a local pediatrician, reached out to Southside in November wondering how she could help Southside. As it happened, this doctor was the same person who thought of Southside back in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and donated $10K to go towards technology, specifically hotspots, at the height of the crisis. She said she had heard of Southside and knew it was a caring community supporting students and their families. She also wanted to be able to directly impact the lives of others in a very real way at the time. In 2020, the money came directly from her and her family. Fast forward to today, and once again, Dr. Valavalkar thought of this loving and caring community. This time, she brought some friends with her. When she called the communications department asking how she could help this time, there was no shortage of things we sent to her, from the toy drive to the need for student support. Now as the current president of TIPS she and her colleagues raised $15,000 to donate to Southside along with a carload of toys. Cardinal nation can not thank you enough for your generous support and for always thinking of us.
