Texas nonprofit Children at Risk named Heritage Elementary a Gold Ribbon School. The Gold Ribbon status is one of the highest rankings assigned to campuses. “Gold Ribbon is an area where we really celebrate schools that are performing well. These schools are examples where teachers and leadership are working well to make sure students are being successful in the classroom,” said Leila Mzali of Children at Risk.

Superintendent of Schools Mr. Rolando Ramirez welcomed the accolade. He also credited the teachers and administrators for raising student academic performance. “For an outside entity to recognize the campus is fantastic. It motivates staff to do more and continue doing what they’re doing,” the superintendent said.

Under the Texas Education Association campus performance rankings, Heritage Elementary is one of only two campuses in Texas to go from an F-rating to achieving a 95-A rating.

Children at Risk anticipates continued success at Heritage Elementary and in Southside ISD. “I would say that they were exceptional. Keep up the great work and I think we’ll see students continue to thrive,” Mzali said.
