Southside ISD Town Hall Receives Warm Community Welcome

District Director of Public Relations Randy Escamilla discusses upcoming Parent & Community classes at the district's Town Hall meeting at Sandy Oaks on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

Southside ISD is taking the district on the road and coming to a neighborhood near you. The district is 125-square miles and is bringing the district closer to the community. The first of four town hall meetings happened at Sandy Oaks; which is located in the district’s southeastern corner. During the meeting at the Sandy Oaks park pavilion, district leaders discussed academic improvement, finances, safety and security protocols, communications, and parent and community classes. “I loved it,” said Sandy Oaks resident Gloria Sarmiento. “It was my first time attending something like this and I loved how the district seemed so personable. It was clean and easy for the public to understand,” said said. Superintendent Mr. Rolando Ramirez said he appreciated meeting community members he had not yet met before. “It was a positive vibe and this wasn’t a dog-and-pony show. There were some concerns brought up that need to be addressed. It’s good to hear from the community who seemed pleased that this was not just a one-time meeting,” he said. The next Southside ISD Town Hall meeting is scheduled in Via Coronado on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fr. Roman Community Center located at 11031 Ruidosa Street. Refreshments will be provided. “It goes to show that the work of our students and staff is being appreciated by our community and I’m happy to see that,” said the Superintendent.
