Summer STEAM Academy – ROBOTS! ART! GENIUS

Hundreds of Southside ISD Cardinals continued to learn this summer at the STEAM Academy at Losoya, MS.  These students did not miss a chance to make their brains bigger while staying cool at school.

Today, they showed off their work at the 2022 SISD STEAM Academy Summer Showcase. The students learned about music and the science of sound. They were taught how to incorporate social students with robots. Groups of students from Menchaca Early Childhood Center and elementary schools worked on drawings and building San Antonio Mission villages and used coding to tell Ozobots and small robots to drive or “walk” through the villages. A student created an HEB semi-truck to deliver food to one village and operated it through an iPad. Another student group tried to re-create the Battle of the Alamo with one group of robots using wifi. Another cohort of kids worked on a play and performed a skit about a robot. Science and the Arts created a COOL and fun time for our Southside geniuses during these hot summer weeks. We are all very proud of our students, teachers, and staff for their hard work.
