A team of students from Southside ISD competed against students from other San Antonio-area school districts and from Texas A&M University-San Antonio. In the end, Gallardo Elementary School fifth grade student Fabian Martinez emerged as the champion. Students participated in a quiz show titled, “Are you smarter than a 5th grader?” University and elementary students were asked questions such as:
- “Where were fireworks invented?”
- “What type of animal can go in land and water?”
- “How many legs does an arachnid have?”
- “What type of word is: truthfully?”
For the winning the championship, Martinez won a Nintendo Switch console.
