Matthey Middle School will hold a memorial service in mid-August for teacher Daryl Marino. Mr. Marino, 53, passed away following a traffic accident on May 25. He had been a special education teacher at Matthey Middle School for the past four years and had previously taught at Gallardo Elementary School. “He definitely made a difference because of his consistency and how dedicated he was to the kiddos,” said Matthey Middle School principal Mr. Miguel Martell. He added, “He was always looking to improve and wanted to make an impact in the lives of his students.” Mr. Marino’s family and former students will be invited to a campus memorial service to honor him once the regular school year begins. Students will plant a tree in the courtyard outside of his classroom as a lasting tribute.
