Southside ISD Community,

On Tuesday, May 15, 2021, Texas Governor Gregg Abbott issued an executive order that prohibits governmental entities in Texas, to include school districts, from requiring or mandating an individual to wear a mask after June 4, 2021. Therefore, under the Governor’s Executive order, Southside ISD will no longer require face coverings beginning June 5, 2021, at any Southside ISD school or facility. This ruling will apply to all students, staff, and visitors. However, anyone who would like to continue to wear a mask at Southside ISD may certainly choose to do so.

The district will continue to follow protocols in regards to social distancing, temperature checks, and stressing the importance of washing hands.

The safety and welfare of our students and community is our highest priority. We will continue to seek guidance from our local health authority and the CDC so that we provide the best possible service to all we serve.

In Service,

Rolando Ramirez
Superintendent
