Southside ISD Teacher wins $1000 from local University

Texas A&M University at San Antonio selected Southside ISD teacher, Ms. Carol Calderon, as its March 2021 Aspire Teacher of the Month. University President Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson presented the Heritage Elementary School third grade teacher with a $1,000 check, awards bag, and a banner. The Texas A&M University-SA mascot General the Jaguar entertained Ms. Calderon’s class during the ceremony. Also, President Matson presented each of Ms. Calderon’s students with a certificate. The University president also personally invited each student to attend Texas A&M University-SA when they graduate. Ms. Calderon is the 2020 winner of the prestigious Trinity Award for Excellence in Education Award representing 56 school districts and is the 2020 Southside ISD Teacher of the Year and Heritage Elementary Teacher of the Year.
