Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College has made it official. It has officially begun construction on the $23 million Southside Education & Training Center. The SETC, as it is called, will become a pipeline so students can earn their degrees in allied health and nursing, said Palo Alto College President Dr. Robert Garza.
“We are thankful the (SETC) allows us the opportunity to enhance our students’ college experience and prepare them for their future careers,” Garza said.
Alamo Colleges District board member and Southside High School mariachi teacher Ms. Anna Bustamante worked diligently to bring the facility to San Antonio’s South Side and calls the groundbreaking, “momentous.” “I am truly excited about the opportunity it will provide to members of this community and future students,” said Bustamante.
Southside ISD is providing the land on Martinez Losoya Road for the facility.
It will offer community classes in computer literacy, high school equivalency, English as a Second Language, among other courses.
The SETC is scheduled to open in Spring 2023.
