For the first time in more than 40 years, an NCAA Division 1 university has signed a Southside High School Cardinal football player. Southside High School senior Micah Young signed a letter of intent to play football at the University of Wyoming which is a part of the Mountain West Conference.
Not only is Young a star athlete, but he also excels in academics. Now, because of his academic and athletic abilities, the University of Wyoming is honoring Young with a full academic scholarship.
Southside High School football coach Ricky Lock says the last time a Division 1 university drafted a Southside High School Cardinal was in 1977.
