Heritage Elem. Do-Seum-like Halls Win District Contest

Heritage Wins contest

Heritage Elementary Teachers went out of this world to win the District’s Reading Hallway Contest. The school’s fourth-grade hallway resembled The DoSeum located in downtown San Antonio. Teacher Carol Calderon also put on an astronaut suit to add to the environment. The teacher’s theme, “Our Adventure Begins Here” met all criteria for the contest:

  • Theme
  • Incorporates the four core areas
  • Incorporates electives
  • Incorporates technology
  • Incorporates dual language
  • Neatness
  • Creativity
  • Includes student work

The purpose of the contest is to create a decorative campus environment that promotes and encourages students to read.

Superintendent Mr. Rolando Ramirez said he was impressed with the effort from everyone at every campus. “It was evident from the start. Teachers spent their own money to buy shirts. Some wore costumes. They went all out!”
