Free Meals Now for All Children ages 1 to 18

Child Nutrition Lunch distribution

What child doesn’t like chicken burgers, burritos, or carne guisada. Now, any child living in the Southside ISD can receive meals at no cost. It’s an unprecedented effort to feed all children who live within the Southside ISD.

Any child between the ages of one to 18 can receive breakfast, lunch, and supper, plus three meals daily on weekends. No questions asked. On Fridays, District child nutrition workers will distribute lunch, supper, and breakfast, plus six meals to eat during the weekend. In short, Southside children can now receive 21 meals a week.

Parents must provide:

  • Child’s Name
  • Child’s Age

Students attending in-school instruction will receive their weekend meals to take home on Friday afternoon. The District continues to operate distribution sites from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Southside High School, Losoya Middle School, Gallardo Elementary, Heritage Elementary, and Menchaca Early Childhood Center. Additionally, 10 buses are distributing meals in the District’s neighborhoods. To receive meals, just go to the nearest distribution site. It’s that easy.

Southside ISD is making this effort after receiving approval from the Texas Department of Agriculture to operate the Seamless Summer Option Program. It has been approved through December 31, 2020.
