Cardinal Spotlight Week of August 14: Menchaca Early Childhood Center

Jacquelyn Murillo is a Kindergarten Teacher at Menchaca. Mrs. Murillo is fairly new to Menchaca as she started in January 2020 to take over a classroom for a retired teacher. Even as a new teacher to Southside ISD, she hit the ground running and has shown her dedication to teaching and her students. Prior to officially starting with her students, she was working with her classroom’s teacher and getting to know her students and vice versa so her new students would make a smooth transition with the change. She definitely cares about her students’ well-being and academic growth. She is an advocate for her students and their needs, and developed wonderful relationships with her students. You can see the love and genuine respect her students had for her and each other. Mrs. Murillo is a wonderful individual and  teacher. Menchaca is lucky to have her.
Julissa Rendon is a confident and brilliant student who enjoys learning! She is extremely kind and would always spread joy with her contagious smile! Julissa loves to read and would look forward to her next independent book! She actively  participated in classroom discussions and had the greatest drawings!  I was very fortunate to have her in my class; she truly brought a unique and friendly character that made our environment enjoyable! Surely, Julissa will continue to prosper in her education!   –Jacquelyn Murillo, Teacher
