Menchaca Campus officially dedicated

Southside ISD Superintendent of Schools Mr. Mark E. Eads, Principal Rebecca Herrera, and six-year-old kindergarten student Aiden Parado officially dedicated Colonel Miguel Menchaca Early Childhood Center on Tuesday, May 28.

Aiden Parado, 6, stole the show when he got up to speak about his love for the campus, but especially praised his high-energy music teacher, Mr. Thanh Thai.

Following a ribbon-cutting, parents, community members, and future students were given tours of the district’s eighth campus. In 2017, voters supported a bond to build a new pre-kindergarten campus and a new kindergarten campus. The cost approved for Menchaca ECC was $29,695,750.00 of the $59.75 million passed by voters. The design includes shared core facilities. The total enrollment capacity for the dual state-of-the-art campus is 900 of our community’s youngest learners. Menchaca, which opened its doors on schedule in August 2018, is projected to care for the district’s pre-k/kindergarten needs for the next eight years.
