The hottest Fiesta medal will be here soon! It is the official Southside ISD 2019 Fiesta Medal designed by our very own SHS Senior Clarrisa Reyes! She is the district winner of the 2018-2019 Patriotic Art Contest and as the winner her art work will forever be commemorated in the collection of district medals. You will want to get this coveted medal as there are only a limited number being ordered. You can reserve your medal starting March 25th at SISD Central Office. Sylvia Rincon or Ms. Joann Gonzales will take your payment of $5 and your name to reserve a medal for you. Once all the medals come in, you can pick up your reserved medal or purchase one at each campus. Campuses will have medals available to sell for $5. Arrival of the 2019 Medal is just around the corner!

Each year our talented Southside ISD students compete for the title of the annual Patriotic Art Contest. The district winner’s image becomes the official Fiesta medal for SISD and over the years these medals have become “hot commodities.”
This is an assignment that aligns with the celebration of Freedom week in which SISD pays tribute to historical figures or events that have made a difference in our lives. The students also study the US Constitution, Texas history along with a number of other important topics.
Four years ago SISD encouraged the children to become a bit more interactive while they studied these historic topics by launching the art contest. Each of the winning images from each campus will be featured in the SISD newsletter and once again the overall district winner becomes the Southside ISD Fiesta Medal. The district winner was judged anonymously by the SISD Board of Managers and the Superintendent.
