Southside High student advancing to State Science Fair

Southside High School students excelled at the Alamo Regional Science & Engineering Fair at St. Mary’s University on March 2, 2019. Southside High School senior Wendy Valadez was awarded First Place in the chemistry competition. Ms. Valadez’ project focused on making a cold pack out of fertilizer. About 500 students competed in the regional finals and came from as far away as Laredo and El Paso. Ms. Valadez will now compete in the State Science Fair later this month at Texas A&M University in College Station. Other Southside High participants included senior Gabriella Renteria who placed 3rd in chemistry; senior Dominic Martinez who placed 3rd in physics, and senior Jasmin Martinez who was a finalist in microbiology.
