Pearce Elem. Principal selected SAAABE Administrator of the Year!

Congratulations to Brenda Gonzales, Pearce Elementary Principal, who has been selected to receive this year’s San Antonio Area Association for Bilingual Education (SAAABE) Administrator of the Year Award.

Superintendent Mark E. Eads, Mrs. Bermea and Student Services Coordinator Manual surprised Gonzales with the announcement.

As the recipient of this award she will receive free registration to attend the 2019 SAAABE conference.  The conference will be Friday, February 1st at Norris Conference Center, 618 NW Loop 410, Park North #207.  In addition, during the scheduled Award luncheon she will be publicly acknowledged, honored and be given a special plaque recognizing her outstanding support and endeavors in providing an effective Bilingual education program at campus.

Mrs. Gonzales was nominated by the SISD Dual Language/ESL Coordinator Mrs. Adriana Bermea. Mrs. Bermea serves on the SAAABE board, but was not on the committee that selected this year’s winner.  Bermea says she encouraged Mrs. Gonzales to apply for the award because she was so impressed with the work being done on her campus. Superintendent Mark E. Eads, Mrs.Bermea and Student Services Coordinator Manual Ornelas (a former recipient of the award while serving at East Central ISD) surprised Gonzales with the announcement today.

Gonzales is the second principal in Southside history to win the prestigious award, Freedom Elementary principal Thomasina Montana won in 2013. This is another great example of Southside ISD Soaring to Excellence!
