The Pre-K/Kinder Registration Round-up will be a chance to learn more about Southside ISD’s newest state of the art school opening this fall, the Col. Miguel Menchaca Early Childhood Center. The Registration Round-Up will be a chance to meet the school’s new principal Mrs. Rebecca Herrera, learn about services and see the latest images of the new school.
The event will be held at the Southside HS’s Commons (Cafeteria) located at 19190 US Highway 281 from 5:00 pm – 8: 00 pm with food and refreshments. Booths and representatives will be on hand to talk about our Dual Language Program, Immunizations, and more.

GUIDELINES FOR PRE-K/KINDER, HEAD START & PRE-K/K DUAL LANGUAGE REGISTRATION
Students must reside in the Southside ISD attendance zone
Students will be screened as needed to fill available slots.
Bring Birth Certificate, SS Card, Immunization Records, Parent IDs
Proof of Residency
Candidates are selected using two methods:
Attend Parent Info Session
Order in which application was received.
Priority order for candidates into the program are:
EL’s qualified through state mandated testing for whom Dual Language is appropriate
Bilingual students who are Spanish proficient based on state mandated testing for whom Dual Language is appropriate.
English monolingual students qualified through the screening process who are zoned for Southside ISD.
Proof of Income (2017 – 1040 Tax Form and previous month’s Pay Stubs; SSI, Child Support, Workers Comp.etc).
Federal Assistance ( Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, WIC)
Parent notification of acceptance and admittance to the program will be communicated by May 18. It is critical that your contact information is correct.
Once slots are filled, classes will be closed, unless new slots become available.
Once accepted into Dual Language, commitment through 6th grade is essential in order to reap the full benefit of the program.
Once your child is accepted into Dual Language, you will be required to attend a parent information session (May 2, 2018-Location TBD)
Good attendance and behavior are required. Student participation in the Dual Language Program may be revoked due to:
Discipline problems
Excessive absences, tardiness or late pick-up
If students are struggling data driven decisions are made collectively with teachers, parents and administrators to support what is best for each child.
