A team of doctors, nurses, and pharmacists from the University of the Incarnate Word vaccinated about 300 students in the Southside ISD. The program, lead by the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Nursing, and School of Pharmacy gave free shots to children in our district. The shots ranged in price from $30 each to $300 each. However, UIW was able to obtain the vaccinations for free. “It was a complete success,” said UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine Director of Public Health Dr. Anil Mangla. “This is going to help so many children,” he said. Mangla said he expects the vaccination program to grow each year. The free shots were given during a two-day vaccine clinic at the ACES cafeteria on August 8 and 9.
