Mission 11 is the second Student Space Flight Experiment Program that SISD students have participated in during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 school years. The principals, teachers and students from Southside HS, Matthey and Losoya have worked untiringly to provide every opportunity for our students’ success in this project. Members of the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE) selected the experiment that will go up on NASA shuttle.
Our first experiment, Mission 10, is set to launch in February, 2017.
Mission 11 is scheduled to launch in March 2017.
A mission patch designed by our k-5th grade students will be also be worn by the astronauts during both missions.
The winning teams of both Mission 10 and 11 have the opportunity to present their findings at a National Conference in Washington D.C., which is sponsored by the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education and NASA. Mission 10 will present this summer.
The following experiments were presented to the board of trustees and the superintendent of schools by the top three teams, the Mission 11 winners were announced after the presentations, Congratulations to Matthey MS!
