Congratulations to all of our 2016 Patriotic Art Contest winners. Each school had their students submit an image that the student believed captured patriotism either to country, state, city or their school. This was an assignment that aligned with the celebration of Freedom week in which we pay tribute to historical figures or events that have made a difference in our lives. The students also studied the US Constitution, Texas history along with a number of other important topics. SISD encouraged the children to become a bit more interactive with the art contest. Each of these winning images will be featured in the spring newsletter. The district winner is Pearce Primary’s Kassidy Lumpkins for her art work of San Antonio’s “Fiesta”. Ms. Lumpkins image will be the district’s 2017 Fiesta medal (editorial note: the flag with be edited to portray the Texas flag). The art work was chosen by the board of trustees and the superintendent during an anonymous vote.
