Wear Blue for Hydrocephalus Awareness

October 17 – 21, is Hydrocephalus Awareness Week. Southside ISD staff and students are encouraged to wear blue on Friday, October 21.

Hydrocephalus is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain. The main job of this fluid is to surround the brain and spinal cord to act as a protective cushion. Hydrocephalus occurs when there is an imbalance between the amount of CSF that is produced and the rate at which it is absorbed. This causes the pressure inside the head to increase.
