D.A.R.E. Cadets Shine at the Lighthouse!

[soliloquy id=”1070″]The Losoya D.A.R.E. cadets field trip to the San Antonio Lighthouse was an experience they won’t so quickly forget.  The cadets were very proud of their community service accomplishment as they presented the Lighthouse with a donation of $102.45.

The D.A.R.E. cadets began their experience in the Lighthouse boardroom.  They visited with a blind IT Employee of the Lighthouse and who also DJ’s outside of work.  The cadets were fascinated and asked many questions.  They were introduced to braille, a form of written language for blind people, and worked on braille activities.  The cadets also learned about eye diseases and were able to experience how to escort a blind person.  In an effort to connect with the blind community they were blindfolded and walk with a cane.  They also enjoyed pizza provided by the SISD Police Department.
