Texas House Representative John Lujan Sworn in At Southside High School

[soliloquy id=”1551″]Just hours after the votes from the February election were canvassed John Lujan was sworn in as the newest member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 118. The office was vacant after Rep. Joe Farias retired.

Texas House Speaker Joe Strauss, (R) San Antonio, was the Master of Ceremonies. Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman will administer the oath of office.

Southside ISD is honored to be a part of a big moment in San Antonio history. State Rep. Lujan chose to have his swearing in ceremonies at the Southside High School auditorium. He reached out to the SISD to book the auditorium. The Southside ISD resident and community member wanted the event to take place in the school his sons attended. A group of Southside High students has been invited to attend Lujan’s swearing-in ceremony in Austin next week.

Many elected officials and dignitaries from throughout Texas were in attendance including business leaders such as  B.J. “Red” McCombs, (D) District 124 State Rep. Ina Minjarez and former Bexar County Judge Cindi Taylor Krier.
