Dozens of Southside Independent School District employees participated in the Fall 2015 Slim Down Showdown. However, in the end, only one employee could win. This semester’s winner is Losoya Intermediate School social worker Jessica Maldonado. During the nine-week program, Maldonado lost 16.8 pounds which was 10.4 percent of her body mass index (BMI). Maldonado says she lost the weight by exercising more and limiting her intake of sugary sodas, specifically Big Red. For her hard work, Maldonado wins $500 courtesy of the Slim Down Showdown sponsor Amerigroup. Congratulations Jessica!
