Southside Students build a home for a family

[soliloquy id=”1656″]Habitat for Humanity is an organization known for working with low-income families who would not otherwise be able to afford a home. Habitat partners with families in need and helps them build affordable homes for themselves and their families at no interest and no profit. Habitat for Humanity is neither a charity nor a “handout” program, but helps families help themselves.

On October 9, Southside High School students in Mr. Jerry Buecher’s ad-vanced technology construction course are part of Habitat’s newest In-School Fu-ture Builders Program. Under a hot autumn sun astemperatures soared into the mid-90’s students unloaded 401 pieces of lumber and neatly stacked them in the school’s wood shop. During the next couple of months, the students will assemble 33 walls for a complete 3-bedroom, 2-bath house!

As of January 2015, we have built more than 900 homes in Bexar County.
