The San Antonio Police Department’s helicopter, known as Eagle, landed at Heritage Elementary as part of Patriot Day on September 11, 2015. Hundreds of students from Heritage Elementary poured out of their classrooms to see the multi-million dollar aircraft and honor first responders including Southside ISD police officers, San Antonio police officers, and members of the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office. First responders received certificates of appreciation and letters of gratitude from students. The ceremony concluded with the study body singing the patriotic song, “Proud to be an American.”
