RED STORM ALERT! CARDINALS FOOTBALL WINS ACROSS THE BOARD

[soliloquy id=”1720″]Story by Brett HenrySomebody Sound the Alert!     The Southside Varsity football team began their 2015 season with a whirlwind dominating 49-14 victory over Burbank at the SAISD Sports Complex Friday August 28, 2015. The Cardinals used a combination of a punishing running game and a stingy defense to jump out to an early 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Last year’s All-State running back, Matthew Collier, picked up where he left off last year, leading the offense with 33 carries for 238 yards and five touchdowns!    Quarterback Marc Garza and receiver ‘Fast’ Eddie Perez got in on the scoring with touchdown runs of their own. A swarming “red storm” defense kept the Bulldog running game in check most of the night. Perez and Angel Garza also recorded interceptions  to help contribute to an overall great team effort by the defense. Kicker Zach Henry was five for five on extra points and Andre Martin also ran in a two point conversion.  **Also, Congratulations to the Freshman team winning 6-0 and our Junior-Varsity team, who beat Burbank, 28-0. Way To Go Mighty Cardinals!!
