Every morning our students start the day with a campus-wide SEL lesson, their morning announcements, a news report, and so much more. This fun and engaging experience is designed and led by our phenomenal counselor, Ms. Scharf. A counselor who goes above and beyond to meet the needs of students, parents, and staff. A voice for student opportunity. An advocate for the best social and emotional experiences for all students and staff. She has been instrumental in organizing several community and parent events. For starters, she facilitates our Community and Family Engagement (CAFE) Committee where she has led in the implementation of amazing events such as our Attendance Bingo and Veterans Ceremony. Ms. Scharf has created an opportunity for students to showcase their presentation skills through daily news reports which serve as a way to build student confidence, develop social skills, and student leadership. She does weekly small group counseling, 1-1 counseling, daily whole campus SEL lessons, and provides classroom guidance lessons whenever teachers want. She also has created opportunities and spaces to recognize teachers for their contributions to the students and Gallardo community. Ms. Scharf is a dedicated and reflective practitioner who commits to providing exceptional and engaging opportunities for students. We are immensely grateful for her contributions to Gallardo, the knowledge she brings, and the innovative ideas she has. She has done an outstanding job and we appreciate her.

Her favorite subject is math. She is a great mathematician and loves to solve math problems. She willingly participates and shares her knowledge with the class. Additionally, she is a phenomenal athlete. It is a true joy to have Mia as a Gallardo scholar.
