SHS Band Earns the Coveted “Sweepstakes” Award

On Tuesday, April 2, 2019,  the Southside High School Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band competed at UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest held at Southwest High School. Both groups earned superior ratings, including unanimous “1’s” on stage for the Wind Ensemble, and an overall “1” both on stage and in sight reading for the Symphonic Band. When combined with the Superior rating earned in fall 2019 UIL marching contest, this earns the coveted “Sweepstakes” award for the Southside Mighty Cardinal Band.

Band Director Michael Misko says, he believes this is a first for Southside HS since becoming a 4a/5a school!  Way to Go Might Cardinal Band!
